Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Los Angeles County have reportedly been less successful than expected. Many attribute this lack of success to activist disruptions throughout the county and Southern California.
This follows after a leaked memo stated that ICE would be planning a “large scale” crackdown in Los Angeles. Following this leak, rumors circulated for weeks that ICE would be making its rounds throughout the greater Los Angeles County. However, it seems that the crackdown has been less than successful.
In some instances, activists have been putting up posters featuring the information of ICE agents throughout the county. These posters have featured the names, pictures, and phone numbers of these agents. Many of these posters are written in Spanish.

One activist group, named the Community Self-Defense Coalition, has allegedly managed to break up two raids thus far. One in Alhambra, and the other in San Fernando.
Their tactic of disruption? Denouncing ICE and alerting the community of their presence using megaphones.
Other activists have held webinars and meetings over the last month informing people of their rights. Outlining steps and procedures for what to do should ICE visit people’s homes or ask questions related to their status. Some have gone as far as to inform immigrants and their families of possible contacts to speak to should they be deported.
